Math On Conference Realignment

In Scenrio #1, Four Mega Conferences are created with 14 teams each, SMU is left out at Number 74 along with 18 other teams. In Scenerio # 2, Four Mega Conferences of 16 Teams are created, SMU gets left out at number as SMU would sit at around #74 trying to make it into a 64 team league. In Scenerio # 3, 5 Mega Conferences of 14 teams are created, SMU gets left out and is behind 4 teams that are also left out (sitting at 74 again). In Scenerio #4, 5 Mega Conference created with 16 teams each, SMU barely makes it in if we're lucky.

Our only hope is some sort of PAC 12 desperation grab to secure a foothold in Texas. They will make one last attempt to grab TX/OU/Ok State/Tech and if that falls through then maybe we are in the mix.

People that think it'll be 4x16 FOREVER are not paying attention. Someone will convince themselves that 18 works better, gets them more TV $$$ etc....then 20....then 24........

lol you guys saw that Tulane-----yes, that Tulane---- just got an invite to a conference that was better than their own. Tulane. Let that sink in. Tulane who had gone 365 days w/o winning a game until they beat June. Tulane who had 2,115 people at that game. Tulane who has maybe one of the worst hoops facilities in the entire country and voluntarily elected to disassociate with the SEC all those years ago.

None of you have any kind of model that makes any sense or can accurately predict any of this crap. Tulane's Big East invite on their merits basically says that Smoo is worthy of an invite to any of these other conferences.

The more likely scenario is what happened to the WAC 16. If the SEC expands to 16 do you think there will be some angry SEC members in say Kentucky and Tennessee if suddenly they are in a division with KY, TN, VU, Mizzou, USC, VT, GA and Clemson and got no home games except every 16 years with LSU, UA, AU and A&M. And do you think that UA,AU, Ole Miss, LSU, A&M, FL, FSU, and MSU are going to be happy with their meat grinder schedule. So then do they divide into 4 divisions and play home and home with the other division for two years and switch. And remember how the B1G teams complained about their divisions, when it expands to 16, MSU and Michigan will never play except every 8 years. Or the Big XII (16). These expansion dreams will at some point get to unwieldy and teams will begin to complain and starting meeting at airports.
