Band hasn't been notified of any arrangements yet but I'm sure Statler, etc. may know more than me. Our director hasn't been optimistic but I can assure you the band is holding out hope. Being a junior I barely missed the last trip so here's hoping for part 2!

I sure hope the kids get to go. Besides the team, they deserve to go the most!

We need to let Rick Hart know the MBand is a must.

If I were a betting man, I say it happens. They work WAY too hard to be left out in the cold.

Though I wish I could say I would be part of the riot if they did not get to go I am unfortunately only a few weeks out of knee surgery.

Absolutely the band should go. This is a team effort, and they are an important and loyal part of the team. I’m assuming the cheer squad will go also, and they should.

No question that the band should go. They deserve it.

I'm sure the expenses of flying and housing the ENTIRE band, and not just some pep squad, was part of the thoughtful decision before accepting the Hawai'i bowl offer.

Last time there was a 25 year void of bowl games. So SMU really went all out even taking Peruna and JJ’s two horses. Cheer leaders, pep squads and many SMU employees and their families went. I understood there was an undisclosed donor that came up with the funds for the band and cheer leaders. This Hawaii bowl doesn't draw as much excitement so wonder if the funds will arrive? However the band is, and has always been, the most supportive of the football team.

It's great to see the support for the band from the fans. When I hear Peruna, I have chills.

Peruna always is good to be moved emotionally - especially in the pregame when Peruna runs with them.

In regards to your signature though, I sure wish they would go back to singing "Shanty Town" correctly. There are plenty of good recordings dating back to the 60s - or they could just look at the music. The liberties they take with that hallowed song these days are just disgusting.

I hope they get to make the bowl though!

I learned from the recording before I even set foot under the pool. The announcer sent me CDs since we are from a similar spot in north Texas. I don't understand what you mean by liberties. Care to explain?
