A few months ago, they fired their president (former SMU engineering dead Geoffrey Orsak) for what is rumored to be public urination. A few days ago, their athletic director was placed on paid administrative lead as he is under investigation for illegal gambling.1983 Cotton Bowl wrote:Ok, I'm starting to think I missed some recent news about Tulsa. Being an SMU fan in high school makes you part of a very select group.CenTXpony wrote:Unfortunately I'm finishing my undergrad at a D 3 school as well and have to deal with people frowning at me due to my lack of interest in crusader sports! KTP- glad you are on board with the Ponies. Now, turns lemons into lemonade- simply take your TULSA gear, paint an N in front of the T, blank out the UL and A and paint a U at the end. Then take your modified gear to Denton and you could probably sell it at a premium if you told them it was unique.

The Big East brass confused sent it to the wrong TU and is to embarrassed to admit the mistake.

Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier

Somebody get this man a stiff drink. Matter of fact, if you see a Tulsa grad, buy them one. They can all use it.

"People pay attention to sports at your D-3 school? As a grad student at a D-3 school (a large university by D-3 standards), I can say that no one pays attention to sports at my institution"
Calallen you have no idea how brainwashed and delusional these people at my school are when it comes to college sports, these D3 athletes are treated like royalty which baffles my mind because there are more D1 athletes on a high school football field. I know for fact that several of them get academic scholarships (D3 can't offer athletic scholarships) with grade point averages of 2.5 and such. We're building a brand new stadium which includes an upperdeck, jumbotron, and box seats (my tuition per hour increased by 75 bucks per hour, go figure) for what reason, I have no earthly idea.... I wear my SMU attire pretty often and get criticized for not wearing any of my schools stuff or having "school spirit" but purple and gold don't hit my fancy, and I'm simply there to get my degree. Someone asked why ESPN didn't talk about UMHB possibly playing in the championship, and even after being explained the differences in divisions he still didn't get it.... That's the kind of people I go to school with... hipsters and bible thumpers (I do consider myself a Christian, but I do not press my views on others).
"Being an SMU fan in high school makes you part of a very select group."
I've been a fan of SMU since I began understanding college football, probably around the age of seven, (I was born in 1987). I have not seen the golden days as others have, but I love everything about the school. I went to my first SMU game on the night that the Ford opened against Kansas, and my fanhood continues to grow. I've been to every college football stadium in Texas, but I have a greater appreciation/respect for the other Mustang fans I've met compared to other schools fan bases.

Last nights hoops game was a real eye opener. Its just amazing whats going on at the Hilltop right now. Night and Day from the Dement, Tubbs and D'oh. Ive seen a lot of games @ Moody and Ive never seen anything like that.
Got season tickets this morning. Its just so weird after all these years of walking up to Moody buying a baseline ticket and sitting on the front row of section E or F that the best I can get is Section F row 10 and have to get put on a list to get courtside seats for 2013-2014.
