Other schools have attendance issues too

Post by SMU2007 »

For a chance to play in the rose bowl for the first time in 13 years, Stanford vs. UCLA draws only 31k?

That's less than our game vs. AtM...

Kent state and NIU were playing for a BCS berth and lots of empty seats in Detroit.

I was in San Fran yesterday with a big Stanford booster. In addition to expected bad weather, the game was on Friday night which meant serious traffic in bad weather.

By the time the weather cleared, it was too late for him to make it.

and the game started at 5 pm on a Friday 6 days after the exact same teams played. Another example of TV screwing up college football

another indicator-about 10,000 less than next worst attendance of season and about 15,000 less than average

It looks like Stanford's average home attendance this year was arond around 46,000. Not including last nights PAC 12 Championship game.

Tulsa's stadium looks like a high school sized stadium plus an endzone section. And it's not full for the CUSA championship game.

we know our attendance sucks, but i wonder how we stack up in Merchandising as a measure of fan demand. Obviously we don't have t-shirt fans, but i would think we sell alot of gear. Partly because we have good looking gear, second because our alums have money, and they do like to represent even if not as many as we would like right now sit through 4 hour football games.

We do sell a lot of gear. Everytime I go to the bookstore I'm surprised by the quantity of the stuff they offer. Because I used to be in the fan gear business, I always stop by college bookstores to check out the offerings and ours blows away a lot of schools.

The quality of our stuff is good as well. Attractive colors, good graphics, very tasteful designs.

I was Christmas shopping in Canton this weekend and saw a lot of SMU stuff for sale and being worn.
