Man, I like where your heart is on this. But you cannot force people to like a sport that is, ahem, inherently inferior. Female basketball players cannot jump as high or run as fast as men. Our radically egalitarian world right now is very conflicted on this inconvenient fact of nature, and legislating equality does not change it. Men's basketball is 1,000 times more popular than women's basketball not because we're evil sexists, but because it's a lot more interesting. Men's sports as a whole are a lot more interesting. Sorry.

My sister played basketball and she would completely agree that men's is more popular and deserves more attention. It's just facts. If you don't see it then you are lying to yourself.

Sometimes the truth hurts. Probably why we never hear it anymore.

Women's basketball is a great spectator's sport. I've enjoyed SMU women's team for many years. It's just this year the men's team is REALLY a special story so far.

Tune in 770 for pregame at 2:45 and tip-off at 3 PM Saturday as SMU plays at Hofstra. Who's up for another D1 non-conference road win? Haven't had many of those in recent years.

I suppose that's OK if the published broadcast ad in the paper was accurate, which it was not.

Its a matter of revenue vs non rev. No offense to ladie hoops, which I support, but hoops can help butter the bread, especially given the current coaching climate. You want to capitalize, dot you i's, cross your t's. That means give every alum that wants the opportunity to watch or listen, the ability to watch/listen, every single game.

Not only do Rich and Allen do a great job of calling the basketball games, but they have fun and obviously enjoy what they are doing. When they started ragging on the LMU coach, it was really funny but it was all in good fun too. Keep up the great job, Rich ans Allen!

No excuse or explanation for this. The focus is way wrong here, it should not be road team vs. home team....it should be Men's basketball vs. women's basketball.....

Look I get it, we have to be politically correct, but if SMU is too a@@backwards to get two different channels to carry the games, if you have to make the choice, you put the men's game on, especially when you are playing a PAC 12 team.....

Totally despicable decision by those in charge....If we want to pretend like we are a top tier program...we gotta get out of the weeds and step up with these decisions.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

College football does pretty well and the talent is inherently inferior to the nfl

College football does well because it is attached to colleges. A better comparison would be NFL vs a semi-pro league. How many of those are popular?

Women's college hoops is attached to colleges.

(I see your point. Just playing devils advocate here.)

Invalid devil's advocate - college football (FBS BCS level) is the ultimate college level football. Div-1 men's bball is top basketball. Women's is second tier

That is an interesting take. If FBS BCS level football is only the penultimate level of college football, what do you consider the top level of college football?

The SEC transcends the BCS.

I was listening to the women's game while I was at the men's game. Had a lot of fun, too ... We have 2 much-improved hoops teams this year.
