Re: Huge Neon Peruna Makes Sunday Nite Football
I saw it late in the game and it was Red.
Told my wife, who was working on a document for work, to look at the SMU Pony on the TV. She looked up and said, "Isn't that the red Pegasus?"
OUCH!!

Your wife does understand that the Pegasus has wings does she not?DiamondM75 wrote:I saw it late in the game and it was Red.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Or you could thank Robert Rowling who owns the Omni Hotel chain and is a graduate of SMU Law School.gostangs wrote:Its the Omni Hotel downtown. Please make sure anyone you know that works there knows how much we appreciate their support.
Or you could calldown there - ask for the manager and thank them in person - 214-244-6664

That was awesome, but I think it was definitely old footage...I was staring at the omni out of my window while watching the game last night, and it didn't once display a pony that I saw.
I tweeted out that picture as soon as I saw that on Sunday Night Football, but in actuality i think it was old footage. A friend pointed out that they had footage of St. Louis for a game this year that showed a display of Albert Pujols.
Awesome that the arial footage with the Pony got used though!

It was probably from Friday night. One of my wife's co-workers sent us a picture of the hotel when he was downtown.

You have to excuse me, I just took three final exams this morning and started my drinking early, I'm a little fired up at the moment!

Re: Huge Neon Peruna Makes Sunday Nite Football
I'm assuming most people watching the game just saw a giant red horse and had no idea that it was a SMU Mustang. Too bad, but I think people's reactions would be, "Why the hell is there a giant horse on that building?"
Re: Huge Neon Peruna Makes Sunday Nite Football
I have friends in Alabama, Georgia, and Chicago that noticed it and knew exactly what it was - got text messages last night. So yes, a lot people knew it was SMU.
Re: Huge Neon Peruna Makes Sunday Nite Football
I think the logo is pretty iconic if you have a pretty general knowledge of college football/sports. I've seen several people see Mustang logo's of high schools associate it with SMU. The more national exposure we get the more it will continue to be recognized.
