i'm with you JKflamembo, regardless if JJ should be working harder on recruiting, the rest of the world sees 4 straight bowls and more importantly that his lead recruiter left for a bigger school, UCLA. Just watch JJ get hired in the next two weeks and we are foraging for scraps.

I do not think everyone is disappointed in the performance of the coaching staff. Yes, there is concern for the emotional level of the team at the start of some games, but the team as a whole has been coached up and they generally came through in the 2d half. JJ's play calling has always been a puzzlement, but that was accepted with his hiring. I think the biggest factor is the perceived lack of recruiting and progress made in attracting Texas kids. I find it perplexing that a staff who realizes that their jobs, reputation and success depends on recruiting has done such a terrible job in this aspect. How do you expect to win without enough talent???? The responsibility for the program is at the door step of JJ and he appears to be totally indifferent. Maybe kids would be knocking at the door if the product were that good, but we do not have that product. Hence, I cannot figure out how this staff operates and thinks.

NC State and Purdue, NC State has already filled their vacancy.

Hayden Fry was fired in '72 with a record of 7 - 4, and it also cost us a bowl bid. We could fire Mahalo Boy and no football coach would blink. Grow up and be a big boy,; we have money and division 1A coaches love money.

June Jones, Ron Meyer and Bobby Collins fit that description too. That be said Dykes would be only 1 of several I'd want to interview.

Wanting to interview, and actually getting them to are 2 different things.

Fire JJ after 4 bowl games, and 2 or 3 winning seasons, and Div III coaches won't look our way :!:

Took almost 3 months to get JJ here :!:
May the forth be with us.

I've said for months there was no way in hell June Jones was getting fired. It was just group-think that got completely out of hand. I'm not going to cry though if he realizes he ought to go because he is earning only half his paycheck

Such weaselly fear .... Such shaking in the boots ....
Coaches who know SMU expects better than aiming for 6 wins in Year 5 would look our way.

Old school is back in. Mora took his UCLA Bruins out to San Bernardino in August for camp. He said they were too soft, and it's about 25 degrees hotter out there than Westwood. Looks like it might have worked.

Stallion is right (I can't believe I'm agreeing with him again in such a short time). Any chance of JJ being in trouble ended with the win over Tulsa and the 4 straight bowl bid. In fact, if he takes SMU to a couple more bowls they'l put a statue of him out there with Doak and the horses.

Mark my words - June does not coach SMU next season.
