No, the rumor got started when they resurfaced Moody's floor and they had a light blue version of the seal at center court. It looked stupid, but they weren't trying to change the colors, they were just trying to look more academic....
Support the Commitment! We're all SMU Mustangs fans- we should all be committed!

More academic? I suppose what that meant to Pye was that we had to look more like Duke.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Finally someone has some sense. SMU needs to follow BYU and return to the Old Uniforms. Like I have said before-Do you ever see real programs like UT, A&M,USC, Georgia,Alabama ,Notre Dame,LSU,UCLA,Ohio State change uniforms.

Fast-forward by a decade: I liked the royal blue of the Mike Romo/Jason Wolf era. Great threads.

Once and for all...ROYAL BLUE is NOT our school color. It is Yale blue and Harvard crimson. Get over it. If royal blue is your favorite color, find a school that meets your needs. It isn't SMU.

Then tell them to lose the red they currently have, PK. That ain't Harvard Crimson.

SMU has worn royal blue jerseys a lot of the time starting at least in 64.
I'm sure I read somewhere when I was in school that SMU's colors
were cardinal red, and royal blue. I didn't know what royal blue was
before that. Whose been changin our colors ? Bet it was Pye to
be more academic sounding with Yale, and Harvard in the name.

I'm going to have to do some research, but I believe when SMU was first established, the school colors along with a multitude of other things were established and that the colors were the Yale and Harvard colors because those were the Universities that SMU wanted to emulate from an academic stand point. This may take awhile, but I'll get back to you on it.

Why debate Red VS Crimson? The bigger change several years ago was to Navy Blue, our current shade.
I always thought we had a straight forward Red and Blue historically, whether we called it Yale Blue or not. Either way, it wasn't Royal or Navy Blue.

Evidently Navy blue is as close as we can get to the old Yale blue for which the dye of that color is no longer available.
