A long term extension does not necessarily mean he will be there long term. He could still get fired or if another team with money comes along that he would want to go to the other team could still pay the buyout.

Briles is not above jumping ship. He left Houston for Baylor, and RGIII had committed to Houston before going to Baylor with Briles.
