I disagree, there are casinos in Shreveport.... I'd say Albuquerque, NM or Boise, ID would be less fun than Shreveport.

There are multiple casinos in the Albuquerque area. As for Boise, well there's skiing

Call me crazy but I actually like those old-fashioned, traditional older stadiums like the Birmingham Iron Bowl, Rose Bowl, even the Cotton Bowl. They are fast-disappearing but to my thinking something is missing by watching a football game in a place like Jerry-World or some of the other newer especially indoor stadiums.

I agree. I've seen multiple games at the Cotton Bowl, LA Coliseum and Rice Stadium. Been once to the Astrodome, Rose Bowl, Liberty Bowl & Iron Bowl. I regret not seeing a game at the Orange Bowl before it was torn down. I doubt they are any danger of disappearing, but I want to see the Horseshoe at OSU, Big House at UM, Yale Bowl, Death Valley (both of them) and the Swamp, etc.

If you go to a Yale Bowl game, make sure that it is the Harvard/Yale game. No matter what the records, it will draw a decent crowd and it is a lot of fun. The other games are pretty much empty and don't have much going for them.

Nobody in this thread has brought up the bowl's perspective: why would the Compass Bowl want Pitt a third straight year when it's unusual for a team to even go the same place two years in a row?

I certainly don't know the answer... if Pitt meant a guaranteed huge following and lots of ticket sales I would get it, but they didn't turn out this January in particularly large numbers.

They probably didn't want Pitt, but that's who they ended up after working through the BE's pecking order. Don't know if a trade with another bowl was possible or not.

Boise State and Wisconsin are also going to the same bowl for the third year in a row.

Pitt REALLY wanted to play against WVU in a "Backyard Brawl" in the Pinstripe Bowl. That game would probably have sold out the stadium. If you are the Big East and don't want to give Pitt a gift, you send them to Birmingham instead. Just saying.
