Don: Thank you for your response. I look forward to hearing Peruna and Pony Battle Cry throughout the game!

Also, please ignore the first response. What a ^&*%&.

PS I agree that June should find the money to sponsor the rest of the band.

Yeah, what's with all this last-minute hustling around? JJ's had it penciled in as the team goal all along.

I took specific note of the fact that we would not be allowed to perform at half time which would have been great PR to a national audience. I assume this may be the case at other bowls, but cannot remember participating team band being totally excluded or at least marching in the bowl parade. Unfortunately, it is what it is and we need to be happy with the fact that a good part of the band will be there to support the team. In fact, there may be more band members than SMU fans who travel to the game.

This all makes sense......

You still have to feel for the guy watching the game from home holding his woodwind.

I'm sure some of you can relate

The Hawaii Bowl always pre-schedules halftime entertainment because most schools don't bother sending their band. Even in 2009 when the Mustang Band sent the full band, the band was only allowed to perform in pregame while a local act did halftime.

Glad some band members get to go.

Don, it is a relief to see a Mustang Band alumnus directing, preserving our traditions, and navigating the shoals of politics as deftly as you have....

When I leave this Earth someday, I want to be in the stands, listening to the Mustang Band, and watching that little pony run across the field...

The mustang band does not have any woodwinds. It is basically a brass band. 8)

I appreciate the band's position and the director's explanation. I hope the members of the cheer squad and band that get to go have a great time.

A Sax is a woodwind the last time I played. Or did I miss something besides forgetting a new reed... which was more often than not.

I stand corrected on the woodwinds, but it still is basically a brass band. Correct?
