Postby Pony Up » Tue Aug 27, 2002 2:05 pm

Check out what SMU is doing before the season opener. Can't wait to see it! (This list came off the SMU website)

The first 10,000 fans entering the gates prior to kickoff will receive a coupon good for a Hot Dog, Popcorn and Soft Drink for just $6.00! That's a 25% savings. Fans can use the coupon anytime throughout the Navy game but coupons will only be available up until kickoff

A special pregame coin toss by Navy alum Roger Staubach and SMU alum "Dandy" Don Meredith, a pair of Dallas Cowboy greats and Hall of Fame inductees.

Free Mustang schedule magnets for the first 5,000 fans courtesy of the SMU Bookstore.

Free SMU "In Your Face Football" T-shirts for the first 2,000 fans courtesy of Altoid.

Free Altoids mini-tins for the first 5,000 fans.

A special rendition of "America The Beautiful" performed by the SMU Mustang Band prior to the National Anthem.

Secretary of the Navy Gordon England will join a Naval color guard to present the colors for the National Anthem.

Red, white and blue fireworks display following the National Anthem.

The debut of the Mustang Maniac - SMU's newest entertainer and number one fan! His job is to create excitement for all fans at Mustang sporting events, and you won't want to miss his debut as he leads the team onto the field on August 31!

At halftime, a special tribute honoring the 1982 SMU football team will take place on the field. Among the returning players scheduled to attend are the "Pony Express" - Eric Dickerson and Craig James!

Prior to kick-off, there will be a F-18 flyover Ford Stadium.

Compliments to the SMU Marketing department. I think that too many people give those people a hard time. Is it their fault that students at SMU care more about dressing up in skirts and suits instead of putting on a wife beater and getting hammered. I hope to see all the fans get a little rowdy come Saturday night.

On the SMU website, there's a link that says COME EARLY.

Good advice.

COME EARLY
SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT
CHEER when the fellas pour Gatorade over Coach Bennett after his first SMU win
STAY through the playing of Varsity
Then party all night long!
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
...
"Hit it."
