I wish I was around for the ABA days. If anyone wants to read a great and entertaining book get "Loose Balls" by Terry Pluto. LB is a big player in the book. It's a great read.

There are some pics floating around of LB in overalls. Classic

I remember talking to Bob Bedell who played for the Dallas Chapparells team. One of his teammates, can't remember the name, was in a tight contest for leading scorer. During halftime of one of the games, this guy pulled a gun on the rest of team and told them that they had better get him the ball in the second half. It was a pretty crazy league.

Former SMU players Charles Beasley, Denny Holman and Carol Hoosier all played for the Chaps whose games were in Moody. Great time on campus in the 60s to see a very good SMU team, the Chaps, all of those great ABA players such as Dr. J, George Gervin, Rick Barry...etc., plus the first 3 point line, red-white-blue basketball and 12" afros.

My favorite memory of ABA at Moody was the free admission for the second half and the ever evolving flexibility which let us in earlier.

I am not sure if it were free admission and/or they did not want to pay security and let them go after the half time. I was a friend of the organist Miss Inez who also played piano at Luby's on Hillcrest. She got 2 free tickets for every game and I attended most game with her tickets.
