The Tulane thing is backfiring big time. But not much revenue in the A10 as well as the exit fee for the BE makes it highly unlikely.

The question is whether there is a point where, based on defections, the basketball schools have the super majority needed to dissolve the BE, hence not exit fees, shoot, they may even be able to pocket cash on hand and the basketball credits.

Stop reading things published by ESPN while the conference is trying to negotiate a television contract with an organization that isn't ESPN.

In regards to Tulane...

Remember RGT is very very good friends with the Tulane president...

RGT did not support Tulane and it wouldn't have mattered if he had anyway, as SMU doesn't have a vote. There were, at that time, 12 members that had a vote. They are:

Louisville
Cincy
UConn
South Florida
Temple
and the 7 basketball schools.

As it took a majority to admit Tulane (the press release said "unanimous" but that is useless because once a majority is reached, the rest of the votes are changed to promote the image of solidarity) and L'ville, Cincy and UConn abstained from voting (since they were in the process of whoring themselves out to the ACC at the time), Tulane had to find at least 5 votes from South Florida, Temple, and the 7 basketball schools. Thus, at least three of the seven basketball schools had to give their support to Tulane (more if South Florida and Temple voted against them - I'm not sure how they voted).

So who do you think voted them in?

I believe that South Florida and Temple were both yes votes, and it seems that Marquette (the school being the loudest about all of this) was a no vote. So pick three yes votes out of the other six schools (DePaul, Providence, Seton Hall, St. Johns, Villanova, Georgetown).

My guess is that it is the first three in that last list I posted...because they are the least likely of that set to be able to find a home in another conference.

Looking more and more like a done deal. It will be interesting to see where things are when the dust settles.
