This is a great summary. It will be interesting to see how we do next year as JP gets more of his guys in and integrated into the team.
Jason- what guys? So far our stud recruiter from cougar high has done very little in bringing in top level players. I hate to see Dieter leave but when your coach won't make substitutions and sticks with his 'originals' I am sure it becomes very frustrating.

I would assume that he is referring to the 4 wide receivers, plus Gaines, that are committed. Just because he is not their recruiting coach does not mean they are not "his guys" in the context of the on the field play.
I'd say we have 2 outstanding WRs prospects in Gaines and JaBryce Taylor and a couple of more we'll be hoping to coach up. JaBryce Taylor may have had the most prolific season of anyone in 5A. Hope they both qualify.

`Plus if you are talking about Jason Phillips he has a kid nominated as a Finalist for Houston Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Year and just might have a shot to win it. Jason Phillips has had 3 Three Star commitments-lost one in Dee Paul-and has a 2 star from Skyline. Oh yeah he has a long tern relationship with Deion Sanders too and went along with June on their in house visit. I'm sure he had a little to do with the WRs too who probably had already been contacted by other coaches by the time he got here. As of last week he still had a shot at DeMarcus Ayres from Lancaster. Look nobody was going to dominate like Klemm because nobody relies on one Coach to do 75% of the work like SMU last year. Maybe Phillips doesn't compare to Klemm-you shouldn't have expected him to. If we are making inroads at Skyline, Houston Lamar and Lancaster with assists at Lufkin and Red Oak then that's not all bad

Also, nobody has the same connections at the big gyms in LA that Klemm had, that is where he really made inroads in recruiting. We also don't have people like Reinbold and Klemm who were so vocal to social media and rivals with what they were doing. When Klemm threw SMU under the bus when he left, I would guess the coaching staff told folks to tone it down with the rivals connections.
Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean that we aren't active out there. If we aren't talking to one guy, it probably means we are talking to someone else.
Keep in mind that when JP came in this year, he wasn't trying to rock the boat. He didn't change the three deep very much. The biggest change came late in the year when we pushed FUller outside and demoted Dieter.
I think there may be a lot of changes in the three deep going into the spring. Keep your eyes open on that, because the spring is the time to send messages to players to get their act together.
Lol @ you guys thinking Phillips was behind all of the stellar UH recruiting. Check out the BCS offers almost all of our current ccommits have and who just visited last weekend plus who are coming in for visits this weekend. I mean Phillips is a decent recruiter but he most certainly wasn't the brains of the operation like many of you seemed to have thought.
I am curious as to why JJ didn't try to "keep" him. He certainly is a big dude with great hands, but I didn't see any speed. Could be that JJ didn't think he'd develop much further and he decided not to try to talk him into staying.
As great as he was in HS, let's remember we got a lot of 4A and 5A Texas "players of the year" that weren't all that great at Div1a (Wallis - well all state 4a 2nd team, "aren't you a little short to be a Stormtrooper" Chris Sanders - 5A player of the year)
