If the BB schools do split...

Post by ponyinNC »

So if the Basketball schools split it will be bad, but not the end of the world. I think Temple is going to end up holding the entire thing together, but if the ACC/Big 12 poaches either Uconn or Cincy, I think all bets are off and Big East folds as we know it.

However, we might be better off losing the Big East label and forming a new all-sports conference. Here's the core you should get:

EAST
1. UConn
2. Temple
3. Cincinnati
4. Memphis
5. Marshall
6. East Carolina
7. Central Florida
8. South Florida
9. Navy

WEST
1. Southern Miss
2. SMU
3.Houston
4. BYU
5. Boise State
6. Nevada
7. Fresno State
8. San Diego State
9. Air Force

Play
The East and West would each play an 8 game round-roben schedule with the winners playing in a championship game

Eliminate Marshall and East Carolina and put Southern Miss in the East to make it more manageable.

What happens to new member, Tulane? Or Tulsa and Rice for that matter? Not sure this motivates either BYU or Air Force to join. With or without BB only BE teams, we need quality, not quantity to be the sixth best conference on paper and attractive media and revenue.
