"ESPN and NBC will split a package of Big East games that will pay out around $60 million per year on average.."
This is the same reporter who broke the news on the Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl and BCS deals. So take it FWIW.

Is this for football only, or all sports? Someone help me with the math. What will be the payout for football-only, basketball-only, and all sports schools?
Re: ESPN and NBC to strike a joint tv deal wth the Big East
All sports. But its just a prediction. At this point, the goal is for the deal to be big enough to keep the 7 hoops schools and be the biggest of the non-big five conferences for football.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

More than the 42.3 million that the Big East is currently getting.

The contract will be for all sports. Boise State's contract gives them an out if less than 70% of that goes to football members, so that should give you an idea of approximately what the split will be.max the wonder dog wrote:Is this for football only, or all sports? Wait is it 120 million divide by 2 or 60 divide by 2? Huge difference. This is very sad though I was hoping fox would add in its share since they've worked with us and had our stampede show... I kind hope this is a low ball number but if true then CBS and Espn were calling it fairly. So what should we expect like 4-6 mil a team?
Re: ESPN and NBC to strike a joint tv deal wth the Big East
It's a prediction, and those in the know don't expect this to be done by about March/April anyway. Way too many moving parts for any educated guess to be done right now. Either way, 4-5 million is a big upgrade from CUSA, but we're still ultimately going to be in a completely different class of football than our old rivals.
