Three Bulldogs named to Sports Illustrated's All-America teams

Dec. 11, 2012

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football program racked up additional All-America accolades on Tuesday when Sports Illustrated announced its 2012 All-America teams.

Bulldog safety Phillip Thomas added to his growing list of All-America awards, as he was only offensive or defensive player from a non-BCS program to grace SI.com's first-team.

Junior quarterback Derek Carr and freshman wide receiver Davante Adams joined Thomas on SI's list, as the two were selected as honorable mention All-Americans.

This is the first All-America team that both Carr and Adams have been selected to, although Adams was named to several Freshman All-America teams.

Carr ranked eighth nationally with 3,742 passing yards in 2012 and his 36 touchdowns to just five interceptions gave him the third-best touchdown-to-interception ratio in the nation. Carr was named the 2012 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.

Adams, who was the 2012 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, had 26 more receptions, 314 more receiving yards and seven more touchdown catches than any other player in the Mountain West this season.

He tied for fourth nationally with 13 touchdown catches while ranking No. 12 in the FBS with 89 receptions and 14th with 1,168 receiving yards.
