Is Bennett Satisfied?

Postby EasternMarketPony » Wed Apr 20, 2005 4:59 pm

Okay, it's official: Bennett finally has his own team. I doubt that there are any players left over from Cavan (maybe one or two). Is he satisfied with the players that he has?

I don't think that he can say: "Well, these guys are still young, that's why we aren't winning." Or maybe: "Well, these guys aren't my players."

This is still a young team. I know we're all tired of hearing that -- I know I am -- but the fact is that it's true. The majority of the players on the field this year will be juniors, sophomores and freshmen. We're really a year away from having a junior- and senior-laden team on the field.

As for your original question, hell no he's not satisfied. Any of you who have talked with Coach Bennett know that when he goes 11-1, he won't be satisfied because one game got away from him. That aspect of his personality is very encouraging. He won't accept losing, and when we break even, he won't accept that. Coach is a fiercely competitive man, and while he takes satisfaction in the progress and development and growth of individual players, he won't be satisfied with the team until we're whipping folks with regularity. And while I think he genuinely likes his current players, and wants desperately for them to succeed, I imagine he won't be satisfied there, either, because he'll always assume there's someone bigger, stronger and faster to recruit.
