So can football recruits but conference affiliation is still a huge deal to recruits in both sports.

Calipari did amazing things at Memphis in CUSA, Larry can build something special in what ever conference we end up with.

I looked at the Chicago Tribune and in addition to LB, Coach K and Tom Izzo were at the game. That's a pretty impressive group of coaches.

Also, DeSoto beat the #1 team in the country, Chicago Simeon. The Tribune had a quote from one of the Simeon players that they had underestimate DeSoto. It's proof that the rest of the country doesn't realize that the level of HS basketball in Texas is on par with Chicago, DC, NYC and LA. They may have more quanity but our best can compete with their best, IMO

In Simeon's credit, that was their 2nd game and like DeSoto's 14-15th. Gotta make a huge difference, weird to see such a disparity in games played

UCLA & Kansas were both left of probation by Brown, I believe.

Conference affiliation matters, no one will say it doesn't, but its very different than fball. If Jank were selling SMU during this time of flux, I'd say conference would hold a ton more weight. As of now, this ship and talet acquisition is all about Brown. Even if we don't have a BE schedule, we'll have BE talent, which means we'll load up the OOC like Gonzaga, Memphis or Tarks UNLV teams used to do.

Also, of the 7 hoops only programs that left, 3-4 suck.

Pretty sure Kansas' probation was centered around Larry Brown buying a player a plane ticket to go home for his mom or dad's funeral

Sounds like total bball cash inducements (proven) from parties related to Kansas were about $1,200 with $324 related to the plane ticket: "Brown, addressing the Askew matter, said the report mentioned ''a kid visiting his grandmother because she was ill.'' ''I gave him exactly $364,'' Brown said, ''which was the price for the round-trip ticket, and we told the N.C.A.A. about it. The kid's grandmother, who raised him, passed away a short time later.''"
