It seems like the sensible compromise is to allow the Catholic Seven to not have to play Tulane in basketball until the Green Wave reaches some sort of RPI incentive.

Conference RPI is still devalued.

No conference has entry fees only exit fees to my understganding. I believe Stallion is incorrect on this on. Rutgers, Maryland etc have not entry fees into the Big Ten nor does Louisville have an entry fee into the ACC. You just have to be invited.

Stallion wrote:yeah I actually posted that denuding the Big East of 20 million would definitely buy a lawsuit-but they are talking about exit fees of other schools who have already left. Not sure if we would be entitled to that. But the Big East name and contract rights are part of the package we were offered and accepted-that could bring a lawsuit.
If the 7 leave are they also giving up the NCAA units*? Shouldn't we be entitled to those units in a lawsuit? That is part of the ongoing revenues of the league. That is also part of the package we were offered.

*NCAA Units are the payments for the basketball tournament. For each team that makes the tournament the conference doesn't get paid for it that year. They get paid for it over several years. The NCAA calls these payments units. The further you go in the tournament, the more units you earn. the BE is still owed several years of these units.

Big East has an entry fee of 2.5 million according to this article about Temple. Now it can be waived and sometimes they take it out of the future stream of revenue during a probationary period but no conference is likely to give an entering school a full cut of an existing TV contract without getting some concession-otherwise they are cutting the same pie more ways

Funny. Boise could be in the Big West and the Big East at the same time.

Although I was informed by someone who should know that there is no "entry fee" I wouldn't be surprised if there was a concession to future revenues much like Memphis will pay:

Here are the gory financial details for Memphis. There is an entry fee to Big East of $2.5 million that is to be taken out of revenues from the future TV deal over a five year period, so that’s money that Memphis won’t see but doesn’t have right now anyway. There is also an exit fee from Conference-USA that includes a $500K flat fee and $6.1 million in TV rights.

I'm sorry, but any school or individual who didn't see more movement and put money away for such a contengency is a moron - unfortunately that is Memphis sometimes.

Wasn't there an offer of around $150 million/year at one time for the Big East?
