June was brought here to get us into the Top 25. He has not sniffed it. The team is only a small notch better than Phil Bennett's best teams. Bowl appearances are overrated in the 6-7, 35 bowl game era.

You get paid $2.1M per year, you should be kicking [deleted] in Year 3. See Brian Kelly at ND. That place was a mess. Not saying we should be No. 1, but not 90th in total offense and losing key players for 2013.
You're right but the fact that June will be getting at least one more season here is evidence of this program's commitment to mediocrity. If he somehow gets us to a bowl next season he'll be getting a contract extension.
And the only way to let the admin know that people feel this way is to not buy season tickets and not support the MC. The only thing RGT understands is $$$$. Even a small dent will get his attention. One more year with the non-recruiting tiki god will destroy us for at least 5 years into the future.
I would argue the fans have already been voting...with their feet. Let's say the goal is B12...now what? Some billboards?...a website?...etc...what's the plan?

Someone told me Snob is related to one of the Circle of Champions
and the dude has some power behind his name. In other words he has
Turner's direct number.

Come on guys, TCU was added as a desperate measure when the Big XII was looking like it might be torn asunder and this only happened after a decade of great success for TCU

A) There's no way to know if Chad Morris would take the job if offered. If JJ is pushed out, regardless of whether he should be, there's no way Morris or any other coach worth anything would touch the job. If he's as good a coach as everyone says he is, and therefore will have other options, it's hard to imagine he'd take a job at a school that just fired the guy who took SMU, of all places, to four straight bowls.
B) You're right -- Prez Turner speaks $$$-ese. But staying away from the games hardly seems like a way to make the job enticing to another coach, or to make the administration want to pay for a quality candidate.

I think UH would make more sense to the Big 12 than us for the Houston market just as we would make more sense to the SEC for the Dallas market.

Either way, don't see it happening.

PB, you should never let anyone on this board make you nuts, although I have to admit, TB did get under my skin at times.

but give PonySnob credit, he hasn't 'yet' called for a statue of JJ

Pretty much. Only way I see another TX team added is if we lose one. Networks don't want 5, current schools don't want 5, and therefore we won't have 5.

TCU got in with a perfect storm of consistent 10 win seasons that elevated their brand, A&M solidifying their status as little brother to UT with a temper tantrum, and the timing of contracts & TCU's big east move making them available to switch quickly.

Much bigger chance at the pac or ACC than the Big 12. It just doesn't make sense for them.

The Big 12 will have the last choices in the expansion process after BIG 10 and SEC are done.

PAC is our best shot.

Followed by ACC - if they are raided.

Followed by SEC, if they arent able to get teams from ACC or Big12 and want a travel partner for the Faggies.

Followed by the Big12.

I honestly rather go to the PAC than deal with unfair Texas control of our conference. That being said, id take any of the above options.

I think the realistic best option that is emerging is to band together with the Big East leftovers for now and wait for the other shoe to drop with the ACC. If the ACC is gutted, then combine the remnents of the Big East with the rements of the ACC and create a pretty decent conference with good schools and a strong east coast presence.

The PAC is a total pipe dream. They have absolutely no interest in adding SMU. Plus, outside of USC and Oregon, I don't personally find the PAC to be particularly interesting. Watching Washington play ASU or Washington State play Oregon State or Colorado play Arizona is brutal.

The Big-12 is a total pipe dream. I think the Baylor guy said it best. The only way they add another Texas school is if they lose one. The only Texas school that the Big-12 would realisticly lose is UT. If UT bails (and I don't think they will), then the Big-12 will collapse like a house of cards. So I don't see that happening.

The SEC is a total pipe dream. They have no interest in another Vanderbildt. The SEC is only interested in big state schools with a huge fan base that bring new media markets into their fold. Based on the number of SEC games I see every weekend on TV in Dallas, I'm thinking they have good penetration here already with Arkansas and TAMU. We add nothing.

The Big-10 is a total pipe dream. Unless your name is UT-Austin, they have no interest in any school from the state of Texas.

I think some of the folks on here need to step back and get realistic about our options. And for the record, I actually think a combination of Big East and ACC remnents could be pretty cool and a good spot for us to land.

Martin Luther King had a '"total pipe dream" and it was for you to shut up. He knew civil rights were at least attainable.

Anyway, we need alot of hard work and some luck. We arent going to be left behind unless we just give up. Which we wont.

The original post was more of a "call to arms" post for Mustang Fans. This is exactly what SMU needs to be doing. Have BP sponsor the BP bowl in Dallas ans for big money and that is tied to SMU's conference. Have Hunt family and Fords put a bball tourny together for big money and exposure for the conference.
SMU start moving and shaking. Get Er Done.

Not BMW
B itch Moan and Whine.

It is time for the big boys to fight.
