Competition Reality Check

Postby DickerJames » Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:18 pm

The 8-1 start got everyone a little over excited about how good this team really is. Here is a look at our opponents current RPI and SOS. I think it explains the recent losses.

Wins

Loyola M - 239/293
TCU - 220/260
Texas State - 298/240
Malone - Div. II
Rider - 196/196
Missouri State - 328/182
Utah - 119/98
Hofstra - 308/197

Losses

Ark LR - 183/81
Rhode Island - 135/13
Utah - 119/98
Wagner - 84/162

Our RPI is 141 and SOS 270. Everyone looked at the won/loss records of Rhode Island and Wagner and penciled them in as wins, but both teams have a much stronger SOS than us. Good new is, we have taken care of business at Moody.

just wait until we get to conference play; I still say we should be really pleased if this team could finish among the top 6 in CUSA

We have four very talented players and 2 guys (Williams and Giles) who are OK. We have one big guy that can play. The two freshman who see any minutes are going to struggle to stay on the team next year.

If Jones and Cunningham stay out of foul trouble, we can hang with a lot of good teams. If not, we are in trouble.

True and if any one of our starting five have an off night the team will struggle no matter who they play. Just no room for error.

Top half of C-USA would be a big improvement for us.

Like I've said before, I will be happy with a CUSA tournament win.
