Hayden Greenbauer
How cool was it to see him get that pick and go 83 yards to the house?
I'll be honest - I didn't know if he'd ever play other than as the holder on special teams. I thought the Tulsa game was his first action on defense, but apparently it wasn't. First start.
Normally, I would say there's no reason to be a jerk like John Jenkins and run up a score, but when a guy like Greenbauer - holder, backup DB, scout team QB - gets a chance to score, and does it on such a dramatic play ... good on ya, Hayden!

Re: Hayden Greenbauer
Don't compare Jenkins and UH running up the score like they did to what happened last night - no similarities st all.
Re: Hayden Greenbauer
Yeah, intercepting a pass and running it back is different than throwing fifty yd bombs on offense, etc. If we had the ball we should have tried to run off the clock. However, a coach should never tell a player not to score if they find themselves in open field. That's not running up the score.

I didn't mean to suggest that we ran up the score last night - we didn't - just that I like to think that practice is unnecessary. I just meant to suggest that Greenbauer's score was anything BUT running up the score, a play that happened within the natural flow of the game.
Congratulations, Hayden!

Re: Hayden Greenbauer
Hayden Greenbauer was an excellent running QB (Rivals 3 Star) in high school who showed his ability on the pick 6 return play last night. Glad to see him make the play, which allowed SMU to tie the all time NCAA record for pick sixes in a season !
Re: Hayden Greenbauer
He played the Fresno ball perfectly, timed the break just right and hauled it back well, a solid effort.
I saw some disparaging comments about him on the board during the Tulsa game so I was glad he got his TD on Monday.

Sweet record. Had no idea SMU had done that well in pick sixes this year. We have been in the receiving end on many if those over the post DP years.westexSMU wrote:Hayden Greenbauer was an excellent running QB (Rivals 3 Star) in high school who showed his ability on the pick 6 return play last night. Re: Hayden Greenbauer
Agreed. There's a huge difference between throwing deep in the 4th with a huge lead and returning an INT.leopold wrote:Don't compare Jenkins and UH running up the score like they did to what happened last night - no similarities st all.
