SMU has just as much talent as anyone in the BE West Divison

If you look at the past 4 or 5 recruiting classes (outside of Houston who is having coaching problems) SMU has about the same amount of talent as anyone else on their current roster. SMU could challenge for the western division championship if the coaches have done a decent job in developing the players we have.

That's true of everyone except Boise State (who develops talent as well as anyone in the country). Also remember that we have only won once against Coog High in Houston since the DP (2013 game will be in Houston).

Boise would be a step above.

SDSU has a lot of talent around them so they may take off.

UH is on par.

Memphis is less.

Silver lining to today's news is we should be going bowling and possible BCS busters next year!

SMU would have an automatic BCS bid next year if they win the BE would not be BCS busters.

I know, but we would still be looked on as BCS busters. The important thing is that it happens!

I don't think we would be looked upon as BCS busters anymore than Louisville is looked upon as BCS busters this year. Especially since we would still have to beat Louisville to get to the BCS Bowl. We would have earned the birth and would deserve it. If we did good in the BCS Bowl it could also help us get to a better conference in the future.

As of now without 12 football teams there is no BE Western Division. We must play all the BE teams except one.
