Per NCAA rule you have to have 12 teams to have a conference playoff. BE now only has 11 and that is including San Diego State which is about to leave for the MWC.

ESPN just announced that if there is no western traveling partner for San Diego State then they do not have to pay an exit fee to leave the BE per their contract agreement with the BE. So by Boise State leaving it just made it where San Diego State does not have to pay an exit fee at all.

I have never heard it mentioned, which of course does not mean anything. You would think that would have been known. Makes me think SMU and UH do not have that out.

If they do then that would put Houston and SMU in a game of chicken to see who will be the first to leave and pay the exit fee.

SMU and UH problem is they are located in the middle of the country. No where to go except East coast or West Coast. Not great options in my opinion but it is what it is.

I believe it means we just play just about everyone in the BE and have only 3 OOC games.

A little birdie told me we have actually been contacted by one of the P5 about limited membership. Just exploring options for the contactor but it at least means we are relevant to some event. Who knows where this whole thing is headed but our location is HUGE according to the birdie.

My two cents is that we stay EAST. Playing ECU>Wyoming from an overall university exposure standpoint. Even if we ultimately end up going west, the east coast exposure may get us where we want to be (ironic?) Just my two cents.
