They better not have taken him out to dinner, that's the kind of stuff that got even Rick Majerus in trouble at Utah. And we don't have the luxury of good will with the NCAA goons like he did. I'm sure that you must have heard wrong. They probably treated him to an extra ice cream cone in the athletes cafeteria (where ice cream consumption is unlimited anyway). We don't break NCAA rules anymore. Even rumors that we might be doing so are all the NCAA ninnies need to come make life miserable for our basketball program. Ya think UT might rat us out if they had a chance to get a player they wanted, and he chose not to come and word was it was after Tubbs took him "out to dinner". Think before you write, please.

I think either you or Derreck Roberts is pretty naive to think that UT would offer Roberts as a sopmore transfer who would have to sit out a year.

Can the coaching staff take players out to dinner? Isn't that "preferential treatment" or is it a commong practice in college athletics>

Ask Rick Majerus. He got slapped by the NCAA for taking his players to breakfast. Personally, I would think the players might be at risk eating near Majerus, but sometimes you have to take risks in this life.

Besides, if the player buys his own meal and gets there on his own, they can eat wherever they want.

Hey Stallion, I agree to a point. But, look what the kids did at unc to Doherty.

Let us hope the kids play hard, maybe that's all Tubbs expects.

Go Ponies!

Oddly enough MAjerus lived in a hotel in Utah when he got into NCAA trouble. He met the kid at the restaurant in the hotel, now if they had met in his room and ordered room service it would have been okay. Very strange rules this NCAA...
