What difference does it make where he's from? If this guy's good enough to help the Mustangs improve, what difference does it make if he comes from Oregon or Garland? A good player is a good player.
true but if the guy is that big and can play... it would be ludicrous not to want him...who knows maybe he is from texas like his uncle and just moved to oregon when he was in middle school... he will get his chance to show if he can play or not.. that is what juco is for.. give the kid a chance remember that we need all the talent we can get... i don't care if the kid is from anchorage, ak, as long as he is a stud
1) Nice revisionism. Top tier Texas players isn't the comment you made. You said "good" football players from Texas. You know and I know that we'll never again compete with the likes of UT for that top tier. But we certainly can and have gotten some good ones under Bennett. DeMyron Martin and Richuel Massey, both referenced in today's DMN article on our running game, are two good examples. 2) How they've contributed to our recent successes. A good point. We haven't seen it on the field. But we have some good Texas players.
Alright, sunshine, since you brought up that article, here's a quote from it: "As a freshman, Massey played in 10 games, gaining 16 yards on 14 carries." That's the best example you can give of a "good" player we've landed under Bennett? No wonder we're 3 and 20-somethng over the last two years. I guess both of us will have to wait and see on Martin. And when are we going to see the effect of your "good" players on our record? A true fan, which you are obviously not, would not try to sugar-coat the truth. Problems abound on the Hilltop, not the least of which is the ostrich act being performed by so-called "fans" like yourself.
Hey jt, Massey has been a disappointment to this point in time, but if memory serves me right, UT was after him pretty heavy too when we got him to sign up for us. He has had some distracting circumstances since he got here...lets see what he does this season before we write him off and label him as not being a good player.
I haven't labeled him as anything. The aformentioned sunshiner is the one who hung a label on him, I just quoted some stats from the paper.
Look sh!thead. I gave you your point that he hasn't produced. But Richuel Massey was a Rivals three star and a member of the DMN State Top 100. He's clearly a "good" Texas player.
Man, you ambulance chasers would argue with a wall.
Relax, sunshine, and maybe your blood pressure will go back down before you need and ambulance....
Maybe the problem here is we define "good" differently. You're non-fan definition is somebody who some two bit recruiting rag says is "3 stars." My fan's definition is SOMEBODY WHO HELPS YOUR TEAM WIN.
I can play this game too, jt. I didn't say you labeled him anything...and of course you didn't...not in so many words, but the reality is that you implied it by your comment.
Hell PK, instead of playing "games" let's just both admit the problem here--SMU has been so bad across the board for so long its damn near impossible to recognize a diamond in this rough even if it's there. As of now, we are just a bad football team--no implications there.
I can agree with this... We have had a lot of bad years for sure since '89 and last year's team had a lot of injury problems and inexperienced players starting. That probably qualified them for the term "a bad football team" or unlucky as hell. I'm not ready to say that we are now a bad team. We will have most of the injured players back in good shape. Our inexperienced starters are now experienced and more mature. Our two deep is looking better than it has in years. Let's see what this season brings...I'm not saying we will be the best team in the neighborhood, but I suspect they will not deserve the term "bad football team" either.
