Re: Sugar Bowl
I think you nailed it correctly on your reasoning - particularly the BCS tom-foolery!

The R&L Carrier Bowl had almost 49,000 as comparerd to the Sugar at just over 54,000, Does ULaLa draw better than Florida? If so, maybe they should have ben in the Sugar Bowl.

Its simple geography-bowl alliances don't make regional sense

Re: Sugar Bowl
Those Sugar Bowl figures are "enhanced". I heard paid attendance was in the upper 20,000s. Good seats were going for $20 --my friends brought several from distraught scalpers.

That's the great thing about the Super Dome - all those different colored seats look like people sitting in them from afar. LOL!

Florida players leave before the band play school song, except for one player.

Re: Sugar Bowl
I've defended the bowl system a couple times in the past, but one problem that has existed for generations and that showed up last night is the simple fact that many times one team wants to be there and another doesn't - Louisville barely won their conference, knew that they didn't deserve a better bowl, and promptly set their sights on whipping a top-ten ranked SEC team.
Florida on the other hand were still upset a being passed over for a chance to play in the NC game, thought a Big East team was beneath them, got popped in the mouth early and never pulled it together.
Now, compare that to a tourney where every post-season counts. If this was the first round then I think it would have been a different game, even if UL wins.

Not trying to be skeptical but if that is the true story behind the picture, WOW. I have a great respect for Darrin Kitchens.Treadway21 wrote:Florida players leave before the band play school song, except for one player.

Re: Sugar Bowl
As these conferences loose their regional "nature", think back to the SWC or real Big Ten, the bowls just aren't that interesting. I believe in addition to the expansion of the number of bowls, it is no longer a "mystery" how a West Virginia will do against a Big 12 team, or how a Big East team does against a team from the south such as the ACC. As a result, no one really cares who wins except for the almuni of the schools that are playing. They simply destroyed the "regional" rivalry of the bowls that kept us interested.
