I wasn't all that impressed with Dieter this year, but I chalked that up to being a freshman. He has ability, and you could see that, but it's not like he was lighting up the field with the chances that he did get. Yeah, the guys ahead of him dropped passes, but they were faster. Do you throw passes to guys who are fast that might muck it up, or guys who are slower who might muck it up? I'll take my chances with the faster kid until the slower possession-style receiver becomes lights out.

I think he would have had a nice career at SMU if he would have stayed.

Ohs Noes! Never has more time been wasted on such an average possession receiver prospect who quit. The same people who distrust recruiting services apparently think its a big deal when a writer for a national magazine says that a player is an All American. If he was so damn great why didn't any top schools think so
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

If he wants a better chance of playing and doing so closer to home it's not. I drive by BGSU on I-75 when we go visit Mrs CP's family in Michigan and it looks like a nice place if you like a small college town. Golf course adjacent to the stadium always catches my eye, but the facilities are definitely "second tier". A high school buddy of mine went there an enjoyed it. I hope he finds a better situation for him and that we use his scholarship wisely

Daddy (Craig James starter kit) will only have to drive 2.5 hours to see him play now...
seemed like a nice kid, hope it works out for him.

I think this is ALL about Phillips. Funny how a coach gets a reputation in the media as a guru, great person and great recruiter when the opposite is true. As an example our head coaches rep as an offensive guru when that is so far from the truth these days...maybe back in the last century but not now. Phillips is a verbally abusive person that has no business around high school or college programs...maybe the NFL. Sometimes it is a fine line between trying to prod a player to get the best out of him but just look at Mangino and others like him. Very knowledgeable but why any player or any parent of a player would want their son to be subject to the kind of abuse he showers on his players leads me to believe they just don't know and thinks the sweet-talking recruiter is the same as the coach. It makes sense now why he is not on the A & M staff. He is an example of why the NCAA should allow players to transfer without sitting out a year. I doubt any player on the roster would still be here if that was the case. Now if you are talking about coaching some kids who are from extremly bad backgrounds who respond to threats and violence because that is all they know then I can understand that his way could have results but SMU is supposed to be recruiting "smart" kids who can play football so why would a "smart" kid subject himself to this kind of ridicule. Maybe the AD should interview some of the guys whose eligibility has expired and Dieter too.
