I have admitted and will continue to admit I know next to nothing about basketball.

But I know a Hell of a lot about hustle and I didn't see it!

I didn't see it tonight and I didn't see it under Doh.

And if there are other things beside hustle that make a great difference between Doh and Smith then I leave to those more knowledgeable to discuss.

1. SMU sitting in a zone for most of the first half as Tulsa just rains threes all half on us.
2. Tulsa going scoreless for the first 7 minutes of the second half and scoring only 6 points in the first 14 minutes of the second half.

Just to extend that a little bit - last year, Jalen didn't play with energy as much as this year.

In the first half, Jalen had little energy with us playing zone. Once we went man, he played much better in the second half. Just an interesting thing, don't know if there is anything real there.

Also, I think Manuel getting in foul trouble and having to play one leg cotton is a lot of the reason we went zone in the first half. Cotton can't move well and we couldn't afford more foul trouble, so we backed off on the pressure.

I think a lot of what we would consider to be "hustle" shows up when teams play man instead of zone.

In the second half, we were all over the place. Everyone played really, really hard.

I had to watch the game on TV, unfortunately, but even the announcers were saying we looked tired at the end. The lack of depth is a killer.

I am kind of surprised we didn't go to Manuel at the end. He was fresh having sat a lot of the first half. Use him to dribble penetrate and put the game away with foul shots.

Not having outside shooters and a true point guard hurts. I hope we get Frazier for outside shooting if nothing else. I don't know what kind of outside shoot Crandall Head, Nic Moore or Sterling Brown has.

I guess he thinks Dean Smith is the coach of our team?

Poneyte. Respectfully disagree. Last years team would have folded when down by 17 at half cause it had offense.

Last years team had plenty of effort but were handcuffed by the system and with all due respect to Doh, the coach. He had em constantly looking over their shoulder.

I cannot imagine him getting anywhere near the results we have had with this team.

This is a tough game to just jump in and make any conclusions on the team.

I am already tired of hiring about our lack of depth. We all know it's an issue, deal with it. As bad as Dickerson and Uche is, you have to play them a little bit.

Also to the point of depth : every one of these guys runs pickup/open gym for hours at a time, and have done so since they were what, 14?

Many times I have seen teams come in and kick Doh's @ss with 5-6 kids.

True, but when you're playing against college level talent, and having to play balls-to-the-wall defense and crash the boards on every possession you have to have some depth. Our guys played with that effort in the second half last night.....Tulsa only scored 6 pts in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Regardless of the opponent, for that to happen you have to play some damn good defense and rebound.

I was really impressed that the guys had enough energy to come back from 17 down and actually take a 4 pt lead. I thought they played some very aggressive defense and showed some quick hands getting so many of those late steals. Tough finish. Coach is right...too many guys fearing failure and didn't want to touch the ball at crunch time

Amazing comeback and it took a circus shot to beat them. They guy was covered, backed into the corner, and had to alter his shot and it still went it. We only scored 17 points in the first half. But still almost won the game. We need someone who can hit a jump shot from the perimeter. Until then we'll see every team pack it inside.

An amazing stat to me is that while we only got a ridiculous 17 points in the first, Tulsa only scored 14 in the second half.
