TBD. Aresco needs to bring the effort to a sound and lucrative conclusion soon. For us, it will certainly be more generous than the CUSA.
Navy Mustang wrote:I honestly think that Boise State stayed in the MW instead of BE is based on OUR bowl performance (and others that are joining the NBE). In the MWC they are the king of the conference and no one can compete. In the NBE, they would be ordinary. Look at their performance against Fresno State (my reason for us) and they beat Fresno by 20-10. We DOMINATED. meaning Boise now has legitimate competition in the NBE and may fade from their dominance. It's about retaining their image and keeping the sweet media deal they are getting with the MWC. They want to be the dominate in a small market for a reason. To keep more $ based on their MWC TV deal. Mike Aresco was unwilling to give a single school that kind of favortism. Since he's been a media exec for years, he was unwilling to give that kind of favortism/revinue to one team. Boise was/is not that special to the NBE - really. That's my point.
It may really be that they prefer to play their long-time competition and regional schools, rather than better competition without tradition. Who do (will) we get more excited over? TCU or UConn?
They're a heck of a much stronger rival than basically any school we've been in a conference with since 96' outside of Rice, and maybe Houston. Not counting TCU as they would always conference hop before we got there/
Not a surprise. CBSsports is reporting that San Diego State has been in close discussions with the Mountain West in recent days over television revenue
And, further, there are reports of Tulsa talking with MWC and, perhaps, the BE.
"Tulsa would be a good fit, and possibly even better than San Diego State, on the football side. They have had a longer history of success on the gridiron, and bring in a very exciting offense."

That also says that the possibility of inviting UTSA as a travel partner for Houston is on the table. That should be proof that we do not want the MWC.
