Re: Zach Allen QB - Temple, TX
I assumed the Rivals "interest" list had some resemblance to what schools he was actually talking to. No? Okay then, Kid Who Everybody But June and Harvard Took a Pass On vs. Highly Recruited QB Who June Rebuffed.

SMUer, Are you implying we should dump players that have accepted scholarship offers from us and re-offer them to players we think might have some interest in SMU?

Re: Zach Allen QB - Temple, TX
I might seem "dirty" but that's really the only way a small school can get better. Next time JJ should just hold all the scholarships til the end of the season because let's face it he ain't getting any diamonds during the season and appears he has a better selection at the end....jpe747 wrote:SMUer, Are you implying we should dump players that have accepted scholarship offers from us and re-offer them to players we think might have some interest in SMU?

Re: Zach Allen QB - Temple, TX
We should have offered him in the first place!
All I'm implying is tht we blew off a highly rated QB who had a high interest in us. Now he's at our rival because we didn't even offer him. This is a good test of June's QB evaluation ability because he had the opportunity for both but only entertained the idea of one.
And yes, if you are in a recruiting class and someone way better than you joins, you're just SOL; And players know that. June's goal is to put the best recruiting class for his system possible, not care about breaking 18-year old hearts.

Does Allen have the characteristics June looks for in a QB?

By that do you mean a long, slow learning curve with an eye towards transferring a couple years down the line ?
