School had not started but there were enough students there to notice that they were all just sitting there like zombies. I think Charleston Pony has nailed it. The students just do not know any better. Their sports (basketball) awareness is zilch. Oh well, life at SMU.

I think SMU should (half-jokingly) start a "How to Cheer Now that We Are in the Big East" workshop during orientations. Coaches should attend and express what the want from their home crowd.

Those students that do come simply come as spectators.

They need to be reminded that fans come to support their team through cheering and trying to disrupt the opposing team.

Simply watching isn't supporting ones team.

That's called the home court advantage.

Maybe our admissions standards should include school spirit.

where will the student section be in the new Moody? I hope we didn't "sell out" atmosphere for revenue

Exhibit A

Gonzaga also consistently is in the top 25, has 20+ win seasons, wins their conference, and goes to the NCAA tourney

Didn't realize until I saw it on a CBS graphic today that they've been to the tournament 14 straight years

Looks like it'll be along the sideline right behind the benches - length of the court.

that is encouraging; we packed the student section (pullout bleachers) in Moody in my day...when Moody felt a little bit like Cameron Indoor at times. I think it's REALLY important to have rowdy students close to the court if you want to creat a real home court advantage

And they certainly did''t get there by the students sitting on their asses!

It also looks like they have a section of seats behind both baskets. The band is shown on one side, but there is no indication who gets the other side.

That massive void behind the east basket at Moody today is just a disaster.
