That massive void behind the east basket at Moody today is just a disaster.
I've always thought we should put students in those seats...assuming there is enough demand. That's the way Clemson does it, with the premium sideline seats going to fat cat alumni

I actually think you're on to something there. The students were creepily quiet, especially during the most intense points of the game. We need to possibly inject some "ambassadors" to the section to guide the enthusiasm. You have to appreciate the kids in the body paint & wigs. At least they're going nuts. Unfortunately, their ring-leader was being arrested by Norris right in front of the crowd leaving Moody.

School had not started but there were enough students there to notice that they were all just sitting there like zombies. I think Charleston Pony has nailed it. The students just do not know any better. Their sports (basketball) awareness is zilch. Oh well, life at SMU.
you don't have to have a huge basketball IQ to know when to cheer. with me being a perfect case in point. yeah, i played through my first year in HS and enjoy watching the game, but if you asked me to explain the nuances of offense/defense A to B, i probably would score pretty low. the point is, you know a good play when you see it. i'm guessing the students that were there were hungover and didn't want to be there, and were only there because their fraternity told them they had to. you should limit your comparison of crowds to those during rush before schools starts in the last 31 years. I was there, and no, they weren't as into it as other games I've made this season. but to think they had anything to do with us losing is ridiculous. chastising our students is surely not going to help them to want to come to games.

Why not hold the students up to a level that they should be? To accept their ineptness is not acceptable. Do not sell them short! They are capable of so much more and should be held accountable. Enough with the excuses! Also, sure, fan support does not have anything to do with the success, or lack there of, of a sports team. So why bother? Yea, you go ahead and try to sell that line of reasoning....I am not buying it.

student section just needs a handful of leaders to get everyone involved; it's great opportunity to blow off some steam and have some rowdy fun...the team will respond and even the older crowd in Moody will get energized by a rowdy bunch of students that set the tone.

You all need to calm down. It was ONE game. Are you all going to complain that the team sucks if they lose ONE game and have an off night? No. So cut the students some slack for ONE game.

I agree. The students have been great except for the last game and the games during their breaks. They'll get back into it now.

I wonder if it is possible for the fraternities, when they send their pledges to the games, to let them wear red and blue instead of their fraternity jerseys. Would be nice.

Yes. Not everyone was back yet. Just Greeks back for rush week. Should be better against Houston.

Where is the mustache guy ring leader? He seems to be the most motivated student fan.
