Senior Bowl Week - Margus Hunt

Post by PonyPlayer4 »

I'm not sure what the practice schedule is, but I saw they were doing official weigh ins today.

Margus Hunt: 6'8" 277 lbs.

Hopefully there will be some good coverage on him this week.

6 feet, 8.2 inches
For one, SMU was humble with regard to roster info.

Braoddus tweeted that he had a bit of a rough first day. He was unable to get any separation from the OTs.

That's not surprising, I don't anyone expected him to dominate against that caliber of OL.

Scouring the internet, stories seem to show what we know. Margus is big and strong, but still developing his techniques. He isn't dominating, but most see a lot of potential. He was the talk of the weigh in though.

I've always thought his height might be a real impediment at DE but an asset at OT in the NFL. I'd hate not to take advantage of his speed but that athleticism at OT could be amazing. May not have the frame (esp lower body, hips, etc) to play OT. 6"8" worries me in the pros at DE

he needs to use his arms to disrupt passing lanes. a batted ball per game could be the difference on anyone's D

Interesting. I had heard that at IMG, he had destroyed a couple of highly regarded OTs. Hope to hear more reports like that, although his inconsistency is to be expected.

I agree with this line of thought. He is the size of a Pace or Ogden if he puts on another 25lbs or so. I believe he could/would have a longer career as an OT.

In that interview, Margus comes off as very impressive. Hard working, bright and articulate. I wish him the best, he deserves it.

True but there are a lot more 6'8+ OTs than DEs. Just thinking it might give him a better shot - of course he would have to learn a new position.
