There was a reason those RB's were the 3rd & 4th string.........

Even so, SMU was the vast underdog. I remember the photo of the day where our players were holding up the sign "98% of America got it wrong".

So we can point to Nevada's personnel losses just like we could have pointed out our own personnel losses. Fact was, both teams showed up, and Nevada got [deleted].

My memory gets a bit foggy, but wasn't that the year that Sterling Moore's leg was about to fall off, but he was able to duct tape it together and play in the Hawaii Bowl? I remember our D was a different animal when Sterling was in the backfield.

If I recall correctly, yes, but they weren't Nevada's best. I believe their best RB was not allowed to play in that game, but then my memory may be off.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I was there, but in the replay later, I was impressed by how Beasley, Sanders, et.al., really worked hard and stretched to catch Padron's passes. Probably the biggest win in the post DP era, along with the TCU win on Pachall's dropped 4th down pass. A game of inches, huh? Remember Kaepernick may not have had his two 1st string RBs, but he still had his OL.
