Screw Rice. They're dead weight.

Big East needs strong BB programs for our strength of schedule.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Southern Miss is 17-4 in Bball. They've got a nationally recognized team this year.

ETA: They are currently ranked #39 in rpi

It's a tough choice between Tulsa and USM. I see why they are waiting until 2015 to see what the other conferences do.

Right. Nostalgia has no place in today's cutthroat negotiations. Good luck to Rice but...... adios, mofo.

Actually, I feel bad for Rice. Academically strong and a class act, the Owls deserve more than becoming irrelevant. I know they have not placed primacy on athletics, but they are a first class university that will have little in common with their new conference mates. Discarding them casually does not feel right. Who do I admire more ... TCU or Rice? Rice. When establishing a reputation, there is more than FB. Conference realignment has hit them the hardest, while Tulane barely dodged this conclusion. Tulane and Rice are private universities with national reputations of high quality.

you are obviously confusing college sports with something that has anything at all to do with college! You dont seem to understand. The student athletes - who are not to be confused with students since they either dont go to class or go to some pretend class - are just being rented - basically for free - so that people who didnt even go to that school can root for players that also arent really going to that school.
But in the mean time we got some people to buy some soap due to some TV commercials.
Aint it great?

I legitimately think I might have gotten an STD in Hattiesburg several years ago. I vote Tulsa

Agreed WP.
If I was advising Rice, I would drop FB and make a complete commitment to BB. I would lower academic standards (BB has 1/8 the 'students' of FB) and approach the Catholic 7 about becoming a new member.
It is located in a major metropolitan area; they could flourish at BB, never again in FB.

If SMU had achieved what Tulsa has achieved over last decade or so our fans would be insufferable to deal with. Yes please give me bunches of 8, 9, 10, 11 victory seasons in almost every year (8 times), championships, victories over ND etc. The truth is we have every advantage over Tulsa but their program has excelled

It didn't take 10 wins for you to be insufferable.

Wonder if the various Tulsa coaches "pencil in" losses before the season starts?

Tulsa has actually been good recently (wins against legit teams, being ranked).
We make it to the cusa championship game once and suddenly we should definitely be in the sec.
It's great. Really.

And you are sharing this with us because...

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
