W. Soccer -2013 Recruits

Postby August » Thu Jan 10, 2013 2:52 pm

It's that time again and, according to topdrawersoccer, looks like Petrucelli has a fine group coming in; all listed as 4 stars. Nicely done. I'm sure he's got a few more who aren't currently listed.

Taylor Barg - Dallas Texans - ECNL
Kelsey Gorney - Midfielder - Dallas Texans - ECNL
Taylor Jackson - Defender - Dallas Texans - ECNL
Don't confuse me with the facts; I've made up my mind.

Yeah - signing day is getting close!

In all fairness, the 2013 class would originally be Brent's, but CP has been able to hold on to all of the players who comitted before he was hired so he certainly gets credit for that.

As far as CP recruiting, the 2014 class is starting to look really good and some of the 2015 players who have listed SMU as one of their choices are potentially looking even better. Just knowing players from one certain club are talking to SMU again will do wonders for the future of the program.

It will be interesting to see the 2013 roster take shape. If you count up hypothetical scholarships, you can't help but think there is a good chance CP has some transfers lined up.

Go Ponies!

Indeed. And not just the Dallas clubs but it looks like So Cal clubs are once again showing interest seeing that we have a Slammers commit for 2014. Soccer is such a small community with a lot of opportunity to find out the inner workings of a program. It sure looks as though Coach's positive team culture change is making news and, as you say, that bodes well for the future.

Very good point. The five reported committments for 2014 so far are all from So Cal and Houston. Certainly CP's recruiting ties throughout all of Texas (and other parts of the country) are coming into play.

Most of the Texans players have been great for us - and I certainly hope we continue to get our fair share, but it is nice to see us not relying on the majority of players coming from just one club again. :)

He would get a free ride anyway. So a commit without a financial obligation.

Maybe this adds another year of insurance that he'll stay at least four more years as the coach.
Hopefully it's longer than that.

Can anyone give names of 2014 Houston recruits that are planning on coming to SMU?
