Just listened to Galloway break down signing day with Randy Rodgers and SMU was never even mentioned. How does a station in Dallas leave out the local D1 school?

I never listen to Espn radio as I hate them for being such bevo lovers but to leave us out isn't going to cause an uproar. Only hope is we as community say is: "can you spare 5 minutes out of the day for SMU otherwise we will publicly endorse the ticket

It has nothing to do with SMU's class, because nobody at that station (or any other) knows anything about recruiting. It is a reflection of ESPN's view of SMU, and the fact that it considers itself a Big 12-friendly station. ESPN radio is like the DMN and TV stations: its job is not to report news. It is to sell ratings (or in the case of the DMN or any other for-sale media outlet), subscriptions. Texas, OU, A&M, etc., have more alums in Dallas who listen and buy goods and services from advertisers, meaning the SMU mentions will be once in a blue moon and about a Margus Hunt-type of story. For what it's worth, I heard Galloway tease Randy Rodgers' upcoming appearance, and I sent a text message saying to forget (but I used a different word!) Baylor and Texas Tech and talk about the only team in Dallas: SMU.

It doesn't surprise me at all that they didn't mention us. They're driven by numbers, not local relevance.

I know our program is hardly worth discussing but we are D1 and we are in Dallas. I can promise you that the Sports Animal in Oklahoma will spend 99% of the time covering Sooners and OSU but they would spend 1 minute discussing Tulsa. I would rather ESPN discuss how broken our program is then totally dismiss us.

Ponyboy is right. Galloway HATES SMU & loves TCU. The only times I've heard him mention SMU he has ridiculed or belittled SMU. That's why I seldom listen to him any more.

Geez another everyone in the media hates SMU bit. Tiresome. We aren't covered because we are insignificant. We are a school that wants to drop a HOME game against a mid-level Big 12 private school who is a historical rival because we might only win 2-3 bgames next year. Pretty damn insignificant. We get 15,000 our own fans to come to games. Why in the hell should anybody in the Metroplex care when probably the number of actual SMU alumni buying season tickets is probably around 3-4,000. SMU is basically NTSU to 80% of DFW. You want to be relevant you got to beat teams people care about

Not true. We've done a lot to get us to this point in both fball and bball. Bball's trending sharply upward but football's plateued right now. Time for a new football leader or a helluva turnaround on the recruiting front for 2014.
