When was our last win over a top 5 team in hoops? Certainly not since Bliss left and not sure it happened while he was coach........

PonySnob, since you don't know....Actually SMU did beat #5 ranked North Carolina in 84/85 season. SMU went on to be ranked as high as #2 in the nation that year. They were the hunted. Yes, it was under Bliss.

That was just before my time and I wasn't really following SMU hoops until 1987.

Had they beaten a pretty decent Texas Tech team @ Lubbock, they would have been ranked #1 in the nation. If memory serves me correctly, score was closer than actual game.

Had they beaten a pretty decent Texas Tech team @ Lubbock, they would have been ranked #1 in the nation. If memory serves me correctly, score was closer than actual game.

If my memory serves correct that team then tanked the rest of the season after that game.
