Mavs

Postby Hoop Fan » Tue Apr 26, 2005 9:37 am

whats the problem, too much playoff inexperience? I felt like the Mavs were overhyped coming in to the playoffs but I never saw this coming. Point guard is not a position to be breaking in two guys (Terry and Harris) who have never played in the playoffs, not to mention a rookie coach. Dampier is new to the playoffs too, so I wish he'd quit talking so much about being the second best center and play. The Rockets are in Dirks head. And Finley, well he was done three years ago. I like the guy but I was saying trade him while he still had some value, now he doesn't. I've thought for several years the Bulls might take him and he would want to go back home. This sounds funny to say when you score 110 points, but i thought the shot selection was horrible last night, passing up wide open shots and then shooting fading away with defenders draped all over them. The matchup with Nash looks like a pipe dream now.

They look like a different team from a couple of weeks ago. Seem hesitant. McGrady is too good and they have no answer for Yao. McGrady's dunk over Bradley was sick. He seems to be able to do whatever he wants....he is very quick.

I think it really hurt starting off flat again. Then Damp and Van Horn picked up fouls and sat.

Mavs should have dug deep to prevent Houston from coming back. Terrible.

Avery has to get a lot of the blame. There is absolutely no excuse for having Van Horn on the floor and Damp on the bench in the final minute. I cannot believe that a guy who is 6’11” is standing at the top of the lane, waiting for T-Mac (who everyone in the world knows is taking the last shot), just back-peddles and lets McGrady get off a virtually uncontested 15 footer.....that is unbelievable and unacceptable.

The Mavs continue to bring in guys who have floated through the league for years and shown nothing. Then they try and convince everyone they can be major contributors on a championship level team. Shawn Bradley.....Shawn Bradley has spared everyone to death for 12 years in this league (eight with the Mavs) and yet he’s STILL getting important minutes in the playoffs. The same can be said for Van Horn. It’s a joke. As a huge Mavs fan, I'm sick of it.

They're losing because they didn't draft Quinton Ross!

Ever since the two most overpaid stiffs in the history of the NBA have been benched (one due to injury, one by coaches decision) the Mavs have won 3 straight?? You think that’s a coincidence? I don’t.

BTW, I have never been a Rockets fan but I'm really glad T-Mac is finally getting his due. What a tremendous player he has become. He's neck and neck with Kobe as the best basketball player on the planet.

I thought this was a basketball page. What is this NBA crapola? Just kidding. I get interested in the NBA about semi finals most years. Eliminating the Nuggets is a round that just doesn't need to be played. I do follow Q though and best of luck to him. What has happened to Jerryl?

Last I heard/read (on this board, I think), Orlando ate the last year of his contract and released him. I think he played on the Charlotte Bobcats' summer team, but didn't make the regular-season roster.

I honestly think he's passed Kobe. He's been nothing short of sensational.

You’re right. I have long been a huge Kobe fan, off the court issues aside, but I haven’t seen a player as unstoppable as McGrady in this series since the heyday of Jordan. The scary thing is that McGrady is finally realizing just how good he can be.....and we know what happens when a player that talented gets complete confidence in his game.....
Also, it’s very hard not to like McGrady. He seems like a stand-up guy and always says the right things to the media. Regardless of how this series ends up, you have to feel really good if you’re a Rocket fan. And to think, his first team of choice this off-season was Dallas???? Let’s see- McGrady’s making 14 million this year and 14 million next – Van Horn’s making 12 million this year and 16 million next.....that sounds like a good deal for the Mavs.

The Mavs put up a great comeback in this series to say the least, but I dont like having to beat McGrady in a game 7. That guy is money. Yao is eating up Dampier too. Wish we would have gotten a Mutumbo instead of a Van Horn, but thats the Mavericks way.

you cant ever count out this team. One thing I love about this team is that even though Dirk is the guy, if he plays like crap, the team can still put a whoopin on anybody. Just wait til Dirk isn't sick and puking after the game...cant wait for the phoenix series

well, the Suns are here and that was quite an [deleted] whoppin. There is NO answer for Studmire! What a horse. The Mavs has no answer at all. Maybe win 1 game? Damp is a lazy [deleted]. Dirk is not playing like an All Star at all. Look Cuban, Nash won MVP!! worth the money now?

How do you like the Dirk/Damp catfight?
Neither one is playing well enough to point fingers.
