That sure-fire TD he dropped against Rice was the worst. The safety blew his coverage, GG hit him in stride, and the ball went right through his hands...

Joseph is inside. Stewart and Thompson will battle for one outside spot. The other outside spot is the big receiver and that is where the frosh will come in and challenge right away. Gaines will take time away from one set of slot receivers for the big package.

I hope all of the receiver spots are opened up for competition in the Spring and again in the fall. I can't take watching anymore dropped balls or routes being broken off early.

Rhodes (6-2 187) also with some speed. In addition we got some smaller players to watch. I hope Sanders gets a chance. It would be great to have him make some big plays. However, freshman probably wont get a lot of playing time.

It is also encouraging to hear Coach Jones state that he is going to look at some of the DBs at WR. It sounds like they are well aware of the problem and want to address it with every asset available.

I believe Rhodes will be starting out on the defensive side of the ball.

As far as I can tell he is the only one with the speed to scare defenses. Of course he and the QB need to start converting some of those chances.

Was any defense scared of SMU taking a deep shot last year?

When you have a real threat to streak down the sideline as Aldrick Robinson was his senior year, it opens up so many other things.

Thompson is fast, but he is terrible adjusting to the deep ball, terrible at the point of attack, and can't catch.

Hey whatever happened to Arius Holleman? I never heard any reports on him after he signed, did I miss something?

No I don't think so-I remember commenting on him non-chalanting some routes and looking lost in Baylor game and other early games-then he remained on the bench for rest of year. No stats

You are correct Stallion, now that I think about it I had mentioned the same thing.
I watched him play his senior year when his Lubbock Monterey team played Midland, I was not very impressed with him. He played like he did not care. The Midland cornerback that covered him that night was barely 5'10 and Arius never really was able to separate himself form him. He caught a few passes but nothing that had an impact on the game. Now having said this the Monterey QB was not a good throwing QB at all. But the thing that bothered me the most, was Arius's lack of hustle and overall disinterest in the game itself. Maybe was having a bad night and this was the only time I saw him play.

The receivers, as a group, have to improve considerably by next year. Better reads, better routes and better concentration on catching the ball. They have time to make improvements. Better receivers make us a much better offensive team.

I just can't believe we had such awful play from our receivers last year. The biggest shock was the production fall off from Darius -- did not see that coming. We have no where to go but up.

Darius was not the same WR after sustaining injuries very early on in the season. It probably didn't help that he had a new QB learning the system either.

He's played two years. His problem is that he can't catch.

Does it really make sense to take reps away from the returning WR's given their lack of production and give them to Acker this spring? JJ probably is hoping that he's found another WR...........
