SMU running back Jared Williams spent the 2012 season watching his teammates - watching them work out, watching them practice, watching them play - without him as he worked to rehab a gruesome injury he suffered when the Ponies drilled Pitt in SMU's 28-6 win in the BBVA Compass Bowl at the end of the 2011 season. With a rod in his surgically repaired thigh, Williams is up and running and told PonyFans.com that he will be in the running backs rotation when the Mustangs open spring ball in March.

Re: JARED WILLIAMS: Back in the running
Glad to see Williams is back. That was an ugly injury in the Pitt game. I hope he can get back to his same form prior to his injury.

A remarkable young man, in my estimation. I wish him all the best in his future activities, on the field and off. I hope we see him play again.

THis ^^^
I'll be rooting for #22 as hard as I will any Mustang, whether he ever carries the ball again or not. If he had realized the extent of his injury and said he didn't want to go back out on the field and risk another injury, not one of us could have blamed him. Talk about having the heart of a warrior - good luck, Jared.
Thanks for the story, PP. I was wondering how he's doing.

Totally agree with these 2 posts. He seems like a fine young man. Certainly a brave and tough one. Proud to have him as a fellow Mustang and wish him the best.

This guy should be an inspiration to every player who wants to sit out of a drill because he has a slight ankle sprain.
