HPHS senior William Barns was recently selected from thousands of nominees as a WFAA Scholar Athlete. His segment is schedule to air on Dale Hansen's Sports Special at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. WFAA and Dale Hansen showcase North Texas high school seniors who excel in academics and athletics, as well as contribute to making their community a better place to live.

Barns is ranked 11th in his class and serves as a varsity football captain, vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and vice president of the National Honor Society.

Back in HS, my favorite school to play in baseball was HP. All good athletes and kids, glad to have a local kid on the team!
