SMU has added Montana State to its 2013 football schedule, according to Montana State athletic director Peter Fields.
Montana State released its revamped 2013 schedule on Tuesday with a game against the Mustangs on Sept. 7 at Ford Stadium. SMU officials could not be reached for comment.
The addition means SMU is dropping one of its four previously scheduled non-conference games. The Mustangs have home games set with Texas Tech on Aug. 31 and Baylor on Sept. 14, and road games against Texas A&M on Sept. 21 and TCU on Sept. 28.
Montana State pulled out of its game against North Dakota State to play its lone FBS opponent, SMU. SMU and Montana State, a Big Sky Conference member, have never met in football.

Who's our first bball game against in the Big East? Not to contradict Josh, but this is a Mavs town and SMU hoops town, IMO

If we're going to play some FCS no-name school, at least get someone like SFA or SHSU who will bring fans. Although if I remember correctly SHSU was pretty good last year, they might beat us

This blows... They should lower season ticket price for this pathetic excuse of a game. Agreed with the board that a team like SFA or Texas state should have been sought after rather than this BS... Oh well if you are going to drop anyone, make it A&M since we don't stand a chance against a preseason top 10

Bwahahahaha! Hey SMU, its Baylor Bears, not the Chicago Bears - You want to play with the big 12 or not?
Re: Montana State announcing SMU added to 2013 schedule
Too bad we couldn't get out of the A&M game...

No this sucks: Overscheduling then getting blown out by 4 td's +, by 3 heavyweight Non Conf opponents.
June can take the training wheels off when SMU can regularly beat Tulsa and Houston, and not struggle against teams like Tulane. Until then, June should not schedule more than one of the local big boys.

Agree; find it disheartening that any one on ponyfan.com would want to down grade our schedule. We are destined to a sub par conference because we are unwilling to at least try to win meaningful games. A win over Montana State impresses no one that matters. June Jones and the new athletic director will keep SMU is a lower tear conference while the last of the conference shuffling comes to an end. We are on the path of failure. How sad.

And some are commenting how MS is legit and we better be careful.
This deep in June and we still have to fear FCS, Rice, Tulane......

Re: Montana State announcing SMU added to 2013 schedule
June obviously knows this roster is designed to compete with real teams and there isn't anyone in the next class coming in to change that. We are only going to win 3-4 games max next year so we might as well keep our attendance numbers up to look better in our new crapy conference. You just took a full stadium and made it empty. The few Mustangs that live in other cities and actually care enough to come in for the games won't for this one... Heck I live here and won't be there. Hopefully this means June thinks he will be fired if we only win a couple games and he is trying to preserve his no expectations pretty sweet multimillion dollar gig.

Re: Montana State announcing SMU added to 2013 schedule
If we're dropping Baylor, would that be for one year only? My son is most probably going to Baylor for college and we were hoping for the big SMU/Baylor matchup for his freshman year in 2014 to open their new stadium.
Re: Montana State announcing SMU added to 2013 schedule
From everything I've heard its just for this season, but I don't have anything concrete to confirm that, just hearsay.
