So do you agree that it looks like attendance may be a non-issue, then? Aside from the usual embarassment, of course.jtstang wrote:Nice research job, Doob. Must be to recent to be in the bylaws yet. Bonus is that I know now what became of Howard Schnellenberger. Last I heard he was escorted, sobbing, from a women's dorm or somesuch at OU.
IT'S FINALLY GONNA HAPPEN! S.M.U. VERSUS SAM HOUSTON STATE!

I had always assumed that the attendance numbers quoted in the paper were based on ticket sales. If that's true, I think that's where numbers like 17K for SJS come from, and maybe we do average above the required 15K. I still think even then we're so close that I would not call it a non-issue, but not as dire a one as I've previously expressed. I'd still like to know the real numbers.
Since sales seems to be the new deal, does anybody in the MC know our season ticket numbers, or are they not available either?

Oh Boy. Maybe we can get Ouachita Baptist too. Then on to other powers. Does Cook County have a team? I am so excited about Ark St and SHSU I just can barely breathe. Wow- Happy days are here again. Do you think Hendrix would put together a football team again if we promised to play them? After all, they were SMU's first win. Be still my heart.
To borrow a line from a book and a movie, I bet the season ticket information can readily be found "on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'"
In other words, you will never get that information out of SMU in a million years.

Wonder if the TCU peeps b*tched about it this much when they were scheduling these games trying to remember what it was like to win again........
Speaking of the Horny Frogs, as I was trying to keep one eye open last night to try and watch the whole Mavs game, I just started to laugh thinking about how late the Froggies will be playing in there new kick @$$ conf.

I'm not really too thrilled with some of the games in '06, but for a little perspective I checked out SMU history and came up with the following.
From 1976 thru 1981, under Ron Meyer we played:
North Texas State 4 times...actually lost to them in 1977
UT Arlington 2 times
Wichata State once
Memphis State once...and we lost that game
Gramblin once
In 1981 our three OOC games were NTS, UTA and Gramblin.
From 1982 thru 1986, under Bobby Collins we played:
North Texas State twice
UT Arlington once
Gramblin once
I would say our 2006 is looking alot like our 1981 schedule. So let's not get too damn indignant here guys...we've done it before.

I repeat. There is a major difference in scheduling cupcakes OOC when you play in a good conference. Our conference (esp. CUSA West ) is composed totally of cupcakes. When we schedule SHSU, Ark St and NTSU, we play no one all year ranked in the Top 75 (unless possibly UTEP) I actually like the NTSU game becuase it is cheap, we'll get a decent crowd and they are trying to schedule up. The others are no better than plying scrimmages.
