More weight doesn't make a better DE IMHO. In fact, I'd rather have a lighter weight but taller and faster DE. The prototypical DE seems to be in the 6'5"/6'6", 250-260 range and can RUN. But, again, this is just my opinion based on what I've seen/read. I'm sure I'm wrong and I definitely hope Wood is a stud.
Plenty of players switch positions and end up doing just fine. Here's hoping Holloway makes you completely depressed by being a solid player once he learns his new position.
And plenty don't. I don't think he meant that comment to be negative towards Holloway. SBS was just stating his disappointment in the move. Nothing wrong with that on a message board.
Exactly, the kid is a pup in terms of football experience and now he's going to be making a huge transition to playing OT. And he has the added challenge of trying to fight his way up the depth chart past better and more experienced players. This move greatly diminishes Holloway's chances of ever being an impact player for us.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
Thing is you are very quick to make a point of Wood and Barnes as average or below. Now I am sure the focus will be how many OL are average and how Holloway should be starting.

You sound somewhat sarcastic. Anyway, I wish Holloway the best. I don't think anyone will say a player that switched to a position that they have probably never played will start. Would have be good to at some point see Holloway and Minor as bookend DE's at some point in the next few years but I guess that will not happen at least for now.
Someone earlier had questioned Zack Wood's size at a 6'3" DE. A lot of bcs schools won't look at a DE recruit shorter than 6'5." A lot of Coaches would prefer to have DEs taller than Zack Wood, which is not to say he is not going to be a good DE for us. Just the facts. I know Zack was recruited by Texas Tech, yet I don't think they offered. More reason to get after them in the first game !
Wood is plenty tall. Not every DE has to look like Margus Hunt or Julius Peppers.
What this really comes down to is the fact that the defensive line needs players to step in and perform, and the offensive line needs people to step in and perform, and some coach or coaches felt Holloway had a better chance to contribute, or maybe could contribute sooner, on the offensive line. Might be nothing more than a numbers game.

Are you implying Wimbley was treated bad? In his limited action replacing Line at the end of last year, he was always suspect holding on to the ball. He got in on special teams, and served as a backup to the CUSA offensive player of the year. What more did you want the coaches to do with him? I'm not sure if people think kids should be gifted playing time on this board or what. You have to earn it.

I thought he meant that he hopes the switch works out better for him than for wimbley.
