Notes: But with a Big East cash fund of close to $100 million available for distribution each of those schools (uconn usf and cincy) should be collecting a check of between 18 and 25 million once the settlement is reached according to sources familiar with the talks between the Big East and the Catholic 7 schools who are pushing for a withdrawal by July 1.
The $100 million total is a combination of nearly 70 million dollars the Big East has and will collect in exit fee money from schools that have left or have announced they are leaving and another total of approximately $30 million which will come to the Big East offices from the NCAA as "unit" shares for conference teams participation in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Here is the kicker: The new Big East schools that will be part of the Big East football league next season?SMU, Houston, Memphis, Central Florida and Temple will receive approximately $1 million each, which reduces the total by another $5 million down to 80 million.

So we get a whopping $1M to join this dumpster fire? Wow.

I am among the most optimisic SMU fans out there but this really is starting to become a joke.

if they can't even keep the name brand, how is it that we are joining the "Big East" anyway? Entry fee should be refunded in full since we are basically helping to form a new league and not joining anything. Surely our fees are being returned.

Foolish...we should have protected ourselves in case this fell apart like it is...more evidence at how amateur-hour we are in those Athletic Offices. We need to hire some people who have worked at big-time programs to show us how to run our AD.

I refuse to believe we will get screwed this badly. No TV money, paying exit fees, no war chest money, all while 3 week-old-leftovers who nobody wants hoard 60+ million dollars while actively whoring themselves out to any conference that will listen? Can't believe it will all shake out like that- at least I sure as hell hope not. That would be complete garbage.
