SID: Moody Memorabilia?

Postby DiamondM » Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:40 pm

When the interior bowl gets gutted, what is happening to the seats? Hopefully not ending up as firewood. Any chance I can get a couple of my seats for the memorabilia room? I can bring my own wrench and crowbar if necessary.

We were talking about the same thing when we were leaving the game Wednesday. It sure does seem like the school could make some money selling the seats and stuff like that.

Sort of OT, about 12 years ago, a fellow student worked for the athletic dept. One day, an old closet in moody was being cleaned out and everything was getting thrown in the trash. He pulled two boxes out that contained unworn letterman sweaters for some freshman team. I got one and I think his brother took the other. Nice red sweater with a red and blue M, with 'Colts' written out down one leg of the M. There's even a name sewn in cursive into the lining. I just couldn't believe these were being thrown away.

I have one similar. It is a 1949 Colts' football letter (Freshmen football team). I also have a varsity sweater (1951) that is white.

Ditto Ponyte. Have one (Colts) for swimming team "71 and letter jacket for '72. Didn't continue on team, which would get you next, the blanket, then the silver salver.

I have an old piece of the Summit floor from the Rockets. I'd love to buy one from Moody as well.

I noticed a couple of games ago that someone had already swiped the Republic National Bank "water for the Mustangs" plaques (1956 originals) over the water fountains on the concourse

These red sweaters were regular issue to frosh letter winners in all sports up until 1968 when the NCAA allowed frosh to play varsity sports. I have 2 hanging in my closet; however, they are a little small when I try them on. Yes, the letter winners name was sewn in cursive into the linining and sometimes on the front.

Didn't SMU install the current floor only a couple of years ago or was it just refinished?

They put down a new floor. That is why the bleachers will not pull out all the way. I believe they placed it on top of the old one.
